Identify the ink, deposit and roll specification

Record the ink system, coating type, line count, cell volume, roll material, age of contamination and cleaning history. This separates blocked cells from wear, damaged engraving or process settings.

Clean before residue cures

Fresh residue is easier to remove than hardened deposits. Introduce routine cleaning after colour changes and at shift end, then reserve deeper cleaning for confirmed blocked cells or repeated transfer problems.

Choose the least aggressive effective method

Use cleaners, brushes and wipes approved for the specific anilox roll and equipment. Improvised metal tools, uncontrolled abrasion or excessive alkalinity can scratch the surface or shorten roll life.

Control chemistry, contact time and rinsing

Do not allow cleaner to dry on the roll and do not exceed the documented contact time. Check compatibility with bearings, seals, sleeves, doctor-blade chambers and automated cleaning equipment.

Measure the result after cleaning

Compare cell volume, density and transfer uniformity after the process. Microscopic records help separate remaining contamination from engraving wear and make the next cleaning decision more objective.

When to ask for product selection support
